China Steel Chemical Corporation is the sole processor of coal tar, benzole, and breeze, developing as by-product in the process of making from coal by China Steel, the only integrated steel making company in Taiwan, having capacity of crude steel for 10 million-m.t./year. The Company was established in 1989, and was then listed in Taiwan stock market in 1998. Through continuing debottlenecking process, the Company has capacity of coal tar for 170000-m.t./year, benzole for 60000-m.t./year, and breeze for 250000-m.t/year.
　　
The business of the Company comprises three key activities:(1)processing coal tar to produce soft pitch, refined naphthalene, and creosote oils, (2)processing benzole to produce , benzene, and solvent,(3)grading breeze to produce various sizes of metallurgical . For continuing growth, the Company develops its corporate activity along two sections. One section is for carbon material and the other section is for fine chemicals. Currently, for carbon material section concerned, the Company has developed a pilot line to produce mesophase pitch to the applications of the anode of lithium ion battery and of the high strength graphite industries.
