MGI was founded in 1964 by Robert M. Butler who was the innovator of automated wafer handling equipment. Since then MGI has continued to lead the way in the research and development of automated wafer transfer systems in both the Semiconductor and Solar Cell Industries. Today MGI's automated systems can be found operating worldwide for all of the Major Semiconductor and Solar Industries wafer fabrication facilities. MGI continues to keep up with the technical demands of its clients.

MGI is based in Tempe, Arizona and utilizes a 5000 square foot facility for manufacturing, design and research and development.

MGI’s facilities are located near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and are also conveniently located to many major hotels, fine dining restaurants, and Arizona State University making this an ideal location for anyone traveling within the U.S.
